The Artemis program is an ongoing mission to return astronauts to the moon.
Here are Ten things we should know about the Artemis II

1)Artemis II did not land on the moon. It is a lunar flyby mission where astronauts go round the Moon without landing.
2)This mission is historic in many ways, including the first woman to travel to the Moon. Her name is Christina Koch.
3)The mission also includes the first black astronaut to travel to the Moon, Victor Glover.
4)Artemis II (2026) is the second successful crewed initiative, by the United States, to send humans into deep space after the Apollo program (1972)
“We need Jesus, whether on Earth or circling the Moon,” – Victor Glover (pilot, Artemis II)
5)The Artemis II features four astronauts – Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch and Jeremy Hansen.
6)It features three American astronauts and one Canadian.
7)The astronauts traveled in the Orion spacecraft designed for deep space missions.
8)Take off location was Kennedy Space Centre in Florida.
9)The mission lasted ten days.
10)The crew successfully returned to earth on Friday, April 10, 2026 after completing a 10-day mission around the Moon.

Bonus: The Artemis II prepares Artemis III for astronauts to land on the Moon in mid-2027, which would be the second time after Apollo ’17. The bigger goal is to eventually send humans to Mars.
