Meet Ifeanyi Ruth Ummuna, 28 year old Nigerian-American elected co-president of Harvard Law School for the 2026 – 2027 academic year.

This role of leadership agrees with her strong academic path which includes earning a degree in American University, and a Masters Degree from Cambridge as a Gates Scholar with working experience interning with Public Defenders’ offices and as congressional aide.
Speaking on her election:
“Our primary issue or goal this year is to be responsive to the student body, from things as small as supporting the university and the law school and providing free coffee to students, to something as big as ensuring that students who want to pursue public interest endeavors have appropriate funding… for everyone to be aware of what is required to have equal access.”
Umunna also founded ZeEntry, a nonprofit dedicated to closing the tech gap in the criminal justice system.

Congratulations!
